On Wednesday 13 September, the European Air Group (EAG) formally celebrated the 25th Anniversary of its inception with events at its Headquarters location, RAF High Wycombe, and in the RAF Club in London. The day included a strategic discussion session between the Air Chiefs of the 7 EAG nations, or their representatives, looking at a vision for Air Power in a volatile and unstable world, as well as briefings by EAG permanent staff to former personnel, air and defence attachés of member and partner nations, and members of the EAG governance bodies. This session was facilitated by Paddy Teakle, for which we express our grateful thanks.
The day culminated with a formal reception in the RAF Club which was attended by the Heads of the Netherlands Air Force, André Steur, Belgian Air Force, Thierry Dupont, German Air Force, Ingo Gerhartz, and the Royal Air Force, Richard Knighton, and deputies representing the Chiefs from France, Italy, and Spain.
During the Reception, the current EAG Director, Lt Gen Andre Steur, presented the EAG with a memento to mark the occasion. The formal end of the day’s proceedings were marked by a photograph of the EAG Chiefs, the Permanent Staff and guests, taken in the RAF Club.
The event was viewed by all as a successful day and highlighted the importance and necessity of ‘Improving Capability through Interoperability’. This motto is one we stand proud for and hope to continue to deliver for the years ahead.
Happy 25th Anniversary to the European Air Group!
