Vital to military partnerships with key allies around the world is interoperability. The European Air Group aims to improve tactical capability through interoperability, and one of its major projects includes F-35 Technicians Interoperability. The goal of this initiative is to reduce the F-35 logistic footprint and at the same time increase the operational capabilities by allowing maintenance interoperability between F-35 organic maintenance organisations.
To achieve this, the EAG provided the first workshop in Oct 2023 at RAF Marham where F-35A, B and C model technicians practiced maintenance activities according to national airworthiness regulations. It provided the opportunity for European and United States’ technicians to gain experience in working side by side on F-35. This level of integration offers not only an essential contribution to transatlantic security but provides commanders the much-needed flexibility for a more agile combat employment.
